Mid June Fishing Report

June so far.....

Walleye have slowed down a bit...as well as the trout....but the Bass opener was this weekend and provided us with some great action! The bass that Art Olson caught this weekend was able to place 3rd in the local Henderson Harbor derby. Most the bass have been coming on both minnows and drop shot rigs while drift fishing.

The trout and walleyes we have been catching have been coming trolling. Walleyes have been coming off in-line planner boards with deep dive Husky Jerk Stick baits, and the trout have been coming off Calf island in 140 feet of water on both Stinger spoons in the black tuxedo , and cowbells with spin and glows.

July Fishing... So Far

Fishing is solid everywhere in out of the Henderson Harbor area. Bass fishing remains good out around both Gallo and Stoney Islands. Bass are taking everything from soft plastics to live bait between 10-20 feet of water.

Offshore fishing still is good…SALMON started to show up about a week ago off Calf Island and Stoney Point lighthouse. Fish are in 135-155 feet of water. Look for the marks on your sonar and set up for either trout or the salmon.

Some pictures from some recent trips….

END OF JUNE - Fishing is GREAT!!

Fishing has remained good though the week with people catching bass, walleye, and trout. The bass and walleye are being caught together around both Stony and Gall Islands in 10 to 15 feet of water. The trout fishing has been best off the end of Calf Island.

A recent trip yielded a quick limit of trout, then we went bass and walleye fishing.

MID JUNE - Walleye and Bass Fishing VERY STRONG!

CONGRATS TO ART OLSON!
FIRST PLACE in the WALLEYE Division for the Henderson BASS and WALLEYE Derby.
Caught on EXCURSION CHARTERS!

Fishing has remained solid during then first half off June. Again as you can see from the pictures Walleyes are remaining strong…but now the bass fishing is picking up speed! This is what sets Henderson apart from any other port on Lake Ontario…DIVERSITY…we have all the trout and Salmon you can shake a stick at but also some of the best small mouth bass and TROPHY Walleye anywhere.

July 12 & 13, 2014

July 12

We had a great weekend smallmouth BASS fishing again. We took out a group of anglers from the Bensalem Fishing Club and were able to get their limit of these not only great fighting fish...but great eating.

July 13

We worked for the Lots A Limits lodge and and also with Capt. Gene Bolton. One boat went out for Lakers ... we stuck it out with the bass and had a lot of action on a great blue bird day. Both days fish were in 12 - 17 feet of water hitting anything from soft shell crabs to Rattletraps.

Thanks guys!!

July 4 - 6, 2014

4th of July

Once again had the distinct pleasure of Mike McManus's company on the boat for a little bass fishing. The wind really messed up our drift, and it was out of the north west...not the best. But we did manage a few on drop shot rigs.

July 5, 2014

We went out with the Murphy Party who has fished with me before. They have roots in the eastern basin particularly Henderson, fishing with their Dad. We had a great bite going on the trout but had trouble getting the fish to the net! LOL Later that afternoon we switched gears and fished bass and the results were alot of fun by all!!

July 6, 2014

Again repeat customer...Dave Cisbelli and crew!! These guys fished with me last year and I remember having a great time with them. Especially the "boys"....The wind was blowing pretty strong when we left so we decided to stay in the trench and fish browns. Had a good bite going in the AM, but things slowed down later in the day. We were able to catch some nice browns!!

June 29, 2014 - Multi-Species Day! Trout, Bass and Walleye

First off thanks to JOE!!! GREAT GREAT guy...really enjoyed having him on the boat over this past weekend. A REAL GENTLEMAN. Saturday was a little slow for us, we had only 6 - 7 bites the whole day, and brought in 5 nice trout.

Sunday we made a move to fish more off and around Gallo and immediately got into the fish. We had a boat limit of trout by 9:30 AM. We switched gears and did a little bass fishing that I had been mentioneing to Joe the last couple of days. We all had a great time with the bass catching them on drop shot riggs and Rattle Traps. Even managed a Walleye.

June 21, 2014 - Mark Wilson Party

Its becoming an annual tradition for opening day of Bass.....I go fishing with Mark......boy did we ever clobber these bass on drop shot riggs and a few with Rattletraps. Great day with a great group of guys!!

June 14, 2014 - John Miller and Genesee Cream Ale

This last weekend took out long time customer John out fishing along with his Dad and a few new friends. Weather was not what the weather man predicted for the day... Cold overcast and Windy!! We made the choppy ride over to Chaumont in the AM. Caught a bunch of Bass, which we released, then also caught a beautiful Brown Trout while fishing Walleyes. Lost a brute on a worm harness. In the afternoon we switched to another spot over by "Lonely Tree", and caught some beautiful WALLEYE (10 and 11 lbs respectively), and lost another brown which broke off. AGGH!

The secret to these two beautiful Walleye...... and this is the gods honest truth we dosed the plugs with Genesee Cream Ale before putting them out on the planner boards. The fish Walleye we caught came after dosing the bomber liberally with Genesee put the bomber (plug) in the water and after being in the water only 5 minutes before FISH ON!!. Repeat for the second Walleye... same method!

Gives a whole new meaning to the great outdoors in a glass!!....or can in our case. Had a great time... lots of laughs by all! Hopefully see everyone again. THANKS!!

July Fishing Reports

Sorry I have been busy with fishing lately.

As I've been telling anyone that asks...fishing remains very good out of Henderson. We are catching everything currently with the exception of the Walleye.

Trout and Salmon have remained good off the "Wall", and also in the shipping lanes. Flasher flies have been taking both Trout and Salmon. Bass fishing is good both along the High Rocks and around both Stoney and Gallo islands. Both live bait and soft plastics have been working. This last week saw a pair of Bass over 5lbs, and one over 6 lbs. Great weather to be on the lake.

As they say,...pictures are worth a thousand words.
